Tall Grasses

Tall grasses can be used to separate space on the school ground, creating “rooms,” “walls,” and more spaces for children to use their imaginations. They have high play value, providing fun sensory experiences including interesting textures to touch, wavy movement (and sound) on a windy day, and props that can be used as play elements themselves. Hardy grasses will withstand the demands that are placed on them in a busy school environment. In addition, there are a number of evergreen grasses that can be planted which will keep their colour all year long, or grasses that undergo exciting transformations with the seasons.
