This school project incorporates natural play elements, planting, and edible gardens. With a natural material and colour palette, the design of this middle school outdoor learning and play space is based on a series of circles. Raised planter beds are arranged in a circle around stone pavers, surrounded by shade trees that will fill in during the coming years. Curved pathways lead between the planted and mulch areas. Vertical logs and stepping stumps help to define and break up the spaces, while providing seating and play value for students in grades 6-8.
