Product: Design Scope Document

Use this handy checklist to produce a document outlining the scope of the design you’re planning to undertake. Take a look through the flowchart to determine whether or not you need to hire a design professional.

Getting Ready to Design

You’ve formed your team and outlined your goals and constraints. You’ve made some plans for fundraising (and ideally raised some funds), gained some inspiration, and gotten to know the school and community you’re working on. In addition, you have held workshops with stakeholders, including students and community members. It’s time to take everything you have and put it together into a clear format. Download this PDF and use it to create your very own design scope document.

At this stage, you will want to determine whether you are going to do a community build, or if you need to hire a design professional. Be aware that if you are going to organize a community build, you must work with vendors that have been approved by your local school board or authority. In addition, you need to ensure that you have secured approval prior to starting.
