This award-winning playground is a renovation of an existing park. With plenty of opportunities for both physical and technical interaction, this play area is considered one of the best children’s experiences in Copenhagen. This unique mix of technology and “typical” play structures affords this part of the park both high play value and an opportunity to be a learning experience.
The history of Copenhagen is interwoven with the play structures, which are inspired by five of Copenhagen’s most famous buildings: the Town Hall Tower, the tower of Our Saviour’s Church, the Round Tower, the cupola of the Marble Church, and the tower of the Stock Exchange. According to MONSTRUM, the towers form a challenging playground along with the other features using new technology and sounds to encourage high physical activity.
A series of electronic play devices are mounted around the “Stock Exchange” play tower, allowing children to play electronic catch. In the Round Tower, there is a riddle for children to solve, and the Town Hall tower offers the opportunity to play at being a politician. There are also wide slides, a rope bridge, and climbing holds mounted on the tower walls.
