Dr. Julia Ostertag recently completed her PhD in Curriculum & Pedagogy at the University of British Columbia. She is an experienced outdoor environmental educator whose research focuses on the history, ethics, aesthetics, and practices of school gardening. For five years, Julia coordinated the educational program at The UBC Orchard Garden, a teaching and learning garden at UBC for student teachers in UBC’s Bachelor of Education programming, in collaboration with the Faculties of Education, Land & Food Systems, and the School of Architecture & Landscape Architecture.
