Working within a small budget, Paul Bruchesi School sought to give new identity to everyday materials. By using primarily paint, the overall colour scheme structures/suggests the different activities in the schoolyard, while still allowing children to use their imagination. Supplemented by a few plants and boulders, the design uses very few materials but takes advantage of available resources. Transforming an otherwise flat site, small changes were made to strategically accommodate the playground’s different uses. This is an example of a solution that is easily implemented for a school site seeking a low-cost retrofit.
