This playground is integrated into a housing complex in Hillerød, Denmark.
The target group was children from five to 14 years. In keeping with their style of playgrounds that incorporate a strong storytelling element, MONSTRUM designed a playground featuring a giant spider making its way across the forest floor.
With a leg span of 6.5 x 10.5 meters, and a height of 4.8 meters, children can climb into the body of the spider. At night, the interior of the spider is diffused in warm LED light. A web between the spider’s legs allows climbing from leg to leg and steel bars for the arms. Next to the spider are three big mushrooms, the largest of which is equipped with a slide. Behind the spider, there are large blades of grass in two shades of green to give the impression of movement. The ropes between the blades also offer exciting climbing opportunities.
