Benches

While play may not be the first word that comes to mind when thinking about benches, these are an integral element on any school ground. A bench becomes a place to sit and relax after active play, a quiet space to read a book, or a place to gather with friends new and old alike. It also provides the perfect perch from which parents, caregivers, and teachers can supervise children on a playground. How big is the bench? What material is it made from? Where is it placed on the school ground? Is it under a shady tree or out in the sunshine? All of these are important to consider when planning out what types of furniture will be used on the school grounds.
