Garbage, Compost & Recycling

The placement of garbage, compost, and recycling receptacles is key to creating a clean and well cared for school yard. It also has the potential to help teach students valuable lessons about sustainable and green practices. Compost should be well enclosed so that animals cannot get access to it, and located within the community or school garden area. Recycling should be available everywhere that there is a garbage can to encourage the proper disposal of any recyclable materials. Don’t be afraid to use brightly coloured receptacles or to incorporate educational signage.
