Terraced Slopes

Adding terracing to slopes on a school ground can create all kinds of great play and design opportunities. Geometric terraced steps can function as a play space, a quiet space to sit, or amphitheatre seating for an outdoor lesson. Terraces can be made of all kinds of materials, and can even be filled with materials such as rubber surfacing or planting. Terracing offers an alternative to simple slopes, and can work especially well for schools that have substantial grade changes or steep slopes to navigate.
